Book Week...Connect to Reading
Week 6
Book Week is just around the corner and we are making preparations for activities and displays in school libraries, BUT Book Week celebrations should not be limited to the library. There are so many things you can do in the classroom to celebrate this wonderful event. This year's theme Connect to Reading is a fantastic theme to encourage students to connect to books, texts in different formats, literature and stories as well as make connections with other people in their school, community and indeed the world. Making Connections is an integral part of comprehension and could be a focus for the week of Book Week. Encourage students to connect text with their feelings, experiences and events in the world.
Book Week Activity Ideas
There are 2 great books that have wonderful ideas for connecting with the Short Listed Books. I have a copy of both if anyone would like to borrow them.

Zart Education Consultants (2014) Connect to Reading: Art Activities Based on the Theme, Short Listed Early Childhood & Picture Books, Zart Art Pty Ltd, Melbourne.
Mrs Macs Library is always a wealth of information when it comes to Book Week, along with The Book Chook. I guarantee that everyone could find a fabulous activity to celebrate Book Week on one of these sites.
